Stranger Things 4 Will Add Four New Male Characters

Image
Stranger Things   might have lost two of its male leads in the season 3 finale – though one of them will surely make a comeback – but season 4 will be adding a further four male characters into the mix, according to a new report from TV Line. The outlet’s sources are claiming that creators the Duffer brothers are gearing up to cast these fresh recurring roles. Out of the four, three will be teenage parts. Specifically, one is a metalhead, the second an entitled jock and the third is being described as reminiscent of “stoner Jeff Spicoli” from classic 1980s movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High.  The adult character, meanwhile, is likely to be involved with the Russian storyline, established in the season 3 post-credits scene which teased that the Soviets have other gateways to the Upside Down. TV Line notes that production is still a few months away so things could change before then. These characters could develop away from their initial descriptions or even be cut altogether...

Feminist ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ Refuses to Go Full Woke

Image
We didn’t need another “Terminator” movie. “Dark Fate” proves it. The sixth film in the series essentially rehashes the plot from James Cameron’s 1984 classic. Been there, terminated that. Still, “Terminator: Dark Fate” gets just enough elements right, from a key character’s return to a refreshingly streamlined plot, to temporarily revive the saga. That’s about the best one can say about a franchise that should have called it quits back in 1991. “Dark Fate” opens in 1998, as a young-ish Sarah Connor watches her son, John, get killed by a T-800 model Terminator. AKA Ah-nold. The sequence is amazing for purely technical reasons. The de-aged Sarah, John and Schwarzenegger robot look exactly as they did nearly 30 years ago. Exactly. We can’t marvel at the technology too long, though. The story quickly shifts to 20 years later in Mexico City. Young Dani (Natalia Reyes) is working on an assembly line along with her brother. Unbeknownst to her, a slick new Terminator,  the ...

Joker May Help The Spawn Reboot Finally Get Off The Ground

Image
Of all the comic book characters not to have been a product of either DC or Marvel,  Spawn  has undoubtedly emerged as one of the most popular around, no doubt helping put Image on the map back in the day. Not only that, but the anti-hero has headlined an animated series, and helped jump-start Todd McFarlane’s line of action figures that have also put out highly detailed toys for everything from  The Matrix  to  Metal Gear Solid and even professional athletes. There was also the eponymous movie that saw release in 1997, but a lot of fans choose not to talk about it. Michael Jai White was a great fit for the character and there were good intentions behind the project, sure, but the final product ultimately missed the mark, with some suspect visual effects and campiness not helping matters at all. That said, we’ve been primed for some time to see this bad boy go in front of cameras. With big names such as Jamie Foxx and Jeremy Renner being attached to the pro...

DC Universe Is Slowly But Surely Going To Be Shut Down

Image
While there’s been various talk over the last year on whether DC Universe will be kept on as a streaming service, it now seems that the platform is slowly but surely being shut down. Our sources – the same ones who told us the company was developing a Green Lantern show before it was officially announced – have let us know that DC Universe is definitely going to be shuttered, although its original series will move over to HBO Max as part of that platform’s bumper collection of content. DC Universe went live on September 15th last year with significant fanfare from DC and Warner Bros., albeit with some early reservations from audiences about a Titans trailer that seemed almost comically gritty. Thankfully, it turned out to be excellent, and we can’t fault DC and its corporate owners for pumping money into the service over the past year. From a second season of Titans to the singularly impressive  Doom Patrol , the ill-fated  Swamp Thing , and other series such as the ani...

DC Developing A Titans Spinoff For Deathstroke

Image
Now in its second season,  Titans has gradually built a reputation as one of the stronger DC television adaptations of recent years, and will likely survive any future changes to DC Universe and the possible transfer of shows to HBO Max. Not only that, but our sources – the same ones who gave us the scoop on that Green Lantern series before it was announced – are now telling us that Titans will be getting a Deathstroke spinoff, focusing on Esai Morales’ version of the character. Although it hasn’t been officially greenlit, the show is in early development and, from what we’ve heard, very likely to go ahead. Morales’ Deathstroke, otherwise known as Slade Wilson, has been the chief antagonist of  Titans ‘ second season, with recent episodes fleshing out the assassin’s past conflict with Dick Grayson’s team. Furthermore, we’ve seen Wilson’s children Jericho and Rose, and in the most recent episode, a fuller backstory for their family dynamic. Depending on where  Titans ‘...
